Maiden's Tower

It is located in Üsküdar, 150-200 meters out of Salacak. While there is no definite information about when the Maiden's Tower was built, some sources indicate that the tower's architectural construction process dates back to around BC. 341 The names of the Maiden's Tower in ancient times are Damalis and Leandros. Damalis is the name of the wife of Kharis, the king of Athens at the time. It is also known as Arcla, meaning "small castle" in the Byzantine time. After the conquest of Istanbul, the existing tower on the island is destroyed and a wooden tower is built instead. In 1719 this wooden tower became ash with fire. In 1725, it was rebuilt by Damat İbrahim Paşa as a mage. In 1857, the lighthouse was added to the tower and in 1920 the lantern lamp reached the automatic light system.
